Jireh Independent Baptist Church was first started in November of 1994. The first church service was held at the home of Pastor Keckler. About twenty people attended. Steadily the church grew until it could no longer meet in the living room of the Keckler's home. One year later in October of 1995, we began renting the Arendtsville Community Center and meeting there for weekly services.

The church continued to grow and by 1999 we were ready for a new place to meet. After looking at several options, we purchased a plot of land with a well-used welding shop/garage on it, which was located on the Biglerville Road (Route 34). | Black's Welding
We chose to remodel and build-on to this weld shop and turn it into our new church building. We began this extensive project in 1999. Every Saturday and many times through the week as well, the men and women of Jireh met to work on the building. | Addition to back of building

Many people have asked, "Why is your church named Jireh?" The answer to this question lies in the meaning of the word "Jireh". Jireh means "God will provide." That is why we named our church Jireh, because God truly has and does care and provide for all of our needs. |
